I know it was a limited run, but I sure wish I had mine back! That was Englemann Spruce top, no pickguard IIRC, and the King (or Queen) of the GS Minis.

I voted mahogany.
I love the look and tone of the wood.
I own one.
I will try to post a photo of it if I can figure out how.

How to post pictures on AGF:

First you have to download the Tapatalk app to your handphone. If you are using an I-Phone, you have to go into the App Store to download Tapatalk. Once Tapatalk is downloaded on your handphone, just type Acoustic Guitar forum. You should be able to assess the AGF and any pictures that you have captured with your handphone can be pasted onto the thread you participate in.

Hope it helps.

Played 'em all in the shops. Liked the koa top the best, followed by the mahogany top. Nothing wrong with the spruce top, just have a thing for hardwood tops right now. REALLY wish I had a reason to own a GS mini.

I own one with a Mahogany top. Don’t care for the Sitka topped ones at all...too bright and makes the guitar sound boxy. The Mahogany tops on the other hand darken the voicing notably, making the guitar sound bigger and fuller than its size. For the record, I rarely play it. I’m saving it for one of my kids assuming they eventually want to learn

Yes. Beautiful. I’ve seen the Holden Englemann GS Mini posted in the thread “GS Mini Owners’ Club”.

Default Which is your favorite top wood for GS Mini?

Hog seems to be the most popular top wood for GS Mini!

Yesterday, I played a Hog GS mini at a guitar outlet (shop). The woodgrain at the top looks very similar to my Martin Dread Junior 2 (all Sapele) top, b/s. It sounded good. Wished I had taken a picture to post here.

Meanwhile, please vote if you have not. Thanks!

Koa
Mahogany
Spruce

In that order. I've owned a mahogany top and eventually gave it to my niece. I now own a koa top and am crazy about it. I've never been tempted by a spruce top, just not the tone for me.

Mahogany because that's what I own, but now I'll have to play my daughter in law's Koa Mini just to check it out!

I’m very fond of my Mini Koa too. In fact, it is the guitar I play very often. Just love the Koa tone!

I voted Mahogany, that’s what I have and I love the tone. I like the darker wood tops.

I played many GS minis over the years and I bought Mahogany and KOA models. I have never played a Sitka-topped model I wanted to buy. KOA is my favorite tone and also the prettiest. The mahogany is darker sounding. The KOA is more lush sounding and has a bit more "presence".
