Default Pacing the Cage

A song by Bruce Cockburn - an artist I literally never heard of until a couple months ago - brought to my narrow mind by my friend (also playing in the vid).

This is a rough practice - it's rougher because we knew we had to play it all at once with the camera rolling! And, for this (first) time, we're in a tiny room that was a kid's bedroom but since my retirement a couple years back converted to my music-mixing and very occasional recording space. ( do not call it a studio, because it's not...) Anyway, I digress... Video FX experimentation in Final Cut Pro X.

My favorite BC song - nicely done!

Also really like Jimmy Buffett's version!

I had a couple of BC albums but kinda forgot about them until I read a review of this double CD - live, solo and totally acoustic.
Absolutely superb and like fitness1 above 'Pacing The Cage' became a BC favourite for me too.
Nice one guys.

Thanks very much for the listen and comments.

The local open mic I go to has a weekly challenge that I use to make myself learn a new song occasionally, or revive an old one many times, too. The challenge was actually a Jimmy Buffet song, but my friend suggested this one, since it's on one of his albums. I listened to both, but this version was definitely based on BC's (from that Live Solo album, which is quite good!).

I'm embarrassed to say that I did not know this song, so I first went and listened to Bruce Cockburn do this song in a couple of different recordings. Then I came back to listen to your version and was very pleasantly rewarded!

Well done! I like the two guitars in there, too!

Thanks for the homework and compliment!

I too was surprised by this guy when my friend brought over a stack of CDs to listen to. And, I did the same thing, mainly looking for a video that would show me some idea of what he was doing! There's a bit of that nebulous/modal sound when there's a lot of sus chords that can be a little frustrating for me when I'm trying to learn by ear. I think I got close to start, but haven't gone back to revisit his original, so I might have drifted away some, as I tend to do, always looking for an easier way to play things .

Great job! I love that song. Jimmy Buffett did a very nice cover of it on the Beach House On The Moon album with Mac McAnally doing some great guitar work. You guys did a great job.
