100%. That’s the issue with this breach, it’s a full set of info plus bio. Perfect for social exploits. One of several reasons why I use a pseudonym here and on other forums. Just no reason to make it easy to put together a story about someone online. I get why those with businesses related to guitars do it, of course. But since I have no business interest just no reason to leave that obvious a trail. Not impossible to trace but why make it easy, it’s like a lock on the door. The criminals are going to break into the unlocked car first.

I only use Facebook for family stuff and to access restaurants, entertainment, events and the like.
What limited personal stuff that is in my bio is completely false anyway and intentionally so.
Hack away.

Of course, but vulnerable to what? The AGF is the least of my worries.
If you supply little pertinent personal info or you use false info, pseudonyms and so on, you are uninteresting to those who do this stuff.
It’s all about what is exposed and the harder you make it, the less vulnerable you are. That’s all you can do and hope for the best.

When I stopped using Facebook a number of years ago, it was if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. And I had more time in the day too (which I probably spend here instead of doing something productive). I wonder what they found out about me? Maybe they think I'm dead.....

Facebook has nothing about me that that you can't find by googling my name. Really, I'm not a private person. Never have been. It doesn't scare me that people know that I'm married, that I graduated from high school and college and that I have two grown kids. That's what's there.

Arrow Preventing Identity Theft - Be Proactive

All-

One of the most effective tools to prevent identity theft is to freeze your credit access with the four major rating services: Experian, Transunion, Equifax and Innovis. This is now free. It’s not as drastic as it sounds. Simply, it prevents anyone or any company from pulling a credit card report, or opening an account (credit or otherwise) without your permission. Should you need to grant access for the purposes of taking out a loan or obtaining a new credit card, you lift you freeze or a short time.

Feezing my credit has stopped several attempts to open up cards in my name. This is better than Lifelock because it is a proactive measure.

I had my identity stolen twice during the last ten years. One was a breach of information. That was used to file for false IRS refunds and the other was a breached ATT account - ATT used to use your ssn as an id.

If you haven’t frozen your credit, please do yourself a favor and read up on it.

Best,

Rick

When I am out and see a driver with phone in face, or someone crossing a busy street with phone in face, or in a restaurant across from a significant other, both with phones in face, or a mom at the playground, phone in face instead of watching their kids, etc, I figure most are on FB, to which they are utterly addicted. The majority don't care about their privacy. IF FB was to go down a lot of them would have to be in therapy.
