Strange bit of Guild nomenclature history - that guitar started as the Guild F-412 then in 1987 it was re-named JF-65M-12 then in 2002 it reverted back to F-412 and now Guild Oxnard are calling it F-512 Maple.
The one constant thing is ... no matter what they call it they are great guitars.

Yea, sounds good. That $4K mic, and I'm guessing a very high end mic preamp, probably some compression and eq by somebody who knew what they were doing, didn't hurt it either.

You know, if that is really what you want, maybe it's best to sit tight for a bit and see how this economy thing shakes out. Save up some more money, keep an eye on the used market. You never know, it might be a possibility.

A solid rosewood back? Pretty far, I'd say. You might also look for a used JF30-12, which is an F-412 (or F-512 Maple) without some of the bling. There's nothing like a Guild jumbo!

This one above is my Guild GAD JF30 BLD and has really grown on me.
There's a 12 string version secondhand on reverb in the UK for about half your budget. The newer equivalent is the 2512.

No, the JF30-12 is a US-made Guild.
I look at the Guild model designations like this (I may be mistaken):

If it's a US made Guild 6 string flat-top acoustic guitar, it will have one or two letters followed by one or two numbers (i.e. DV4, F50, JF55, M20 etc.).

If it's not US made, it will have one, two or three letters followed by three numbers (i.e. F150, M240, GAD D150 etc.)


If it's a US made Guild 12 string flat-top acoustic guitar, it will have one or two letters followed by two or three numbers (i.e. JF30-12*, F212, F512 etc.).

If it's not US made, it will have one, two or three letters followed by four numbers (F2512, F1212, GAD1512 etc.)

*I'm disregarding the "-12" appendage on 12 string versions of 6 string models like the D25-12, JF55-12 etc.
