What is Rock and Roll?

Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry or Led Zep and Pink Floyd.

Every 'genre' contains such a wide variety of artists and styles that the name is rendered almost useless.

It doesn't really matter how the industry "packages" it. You either like it or you don't.

I tried Outlaw radio.

Too vulgar. Personalities were trying too hard to be morons.

I don't get it.

The problem is with packaging from an industry who's only reason for being is making money. Click bait music and imagery. Music today is highly influenced by social media to the point of obscuring it's true potential.

Making money is the primary concern of any industry. Of course with music there is the inherent conflict between artistic integrity and $.

Regarding "packaging" I don't believe things have really changed that much over the decades.

In the 20's/30's record companies would routinely add the word "blues" to song titles simply for marketing purposes.
