Default Celtic sources

I just found a new to me book with Celtic music. Its called "Irish Ballads and Aires." I found it on the Mel Bay website. The recordings aren't my idea of a great acoustic sound, but a few of the tunes I really like so I'm learning them. The tunes are in various tunings, DADGAD, DGDGAD, etc so its interesting.

Another book I have had for a while is Celtic Crossing by William Coulter. Not a lot of tunes in it that I can play (I like the slow, easy stuff), but its good.

Other stuff I have is a ton of Stephen Wake's arrangements, 4 or 5 cds worth and El McMeens "Celtic Treasures." Add to this Jim Tozier's "Celtic Guitar Solos" and I'm buried with music. I also have a few books by Glenn Weiser (but in standard tuning) with a ton of music in them and another book or two that have only 1 or 2 tunes that I like in them that I won't mention here. I also just got another book, FingerPicking Celtic Folk, but its all in standard plus it doesn't have the mp3's as a download anywhere. I'll have to look on youtube or throw the notation into GuitarPro over time.

I just ordered Ben Walker's notation for his Echo CD which has a few things in it I'm going to try as well.

What's your secret stash?

At my skill level I find myself playing Jim Tozier's books. Mike Wood has 2 books from his "Gigging Guitarist" series that bring me joy as well. The Wood arrangements can be flat picked or finger picked. Nothing to hard.

You can increase your stock with the 3 volumes of "Irish Fingerpicking Guitar" available here: https://jeanbanwarth.bandcamp.com/merch
Many Irish tunes in DADGAD and some in standard tuning :-)

Jean's arrangements are lovely. Tony McManus's two DVDs (with tab) are both fantastic, some of his trickier stuff, but some very accessible stuff too! Stuart Ryan has a couple of Celtic sets, as well as his brilliant Tradition books which are quite Celtic focused.
