You’re over analyzing the situation. You have a great guitar. Your issue isn’t nut width or string spacing. It’s lack of experience and lack of skill. Keep practicing. It will get easier after you improve your skills and muscle memory sets in.

This is THE correct answer. Down the road, you may find a preference for different nut widths.
