Replacing tuner pegs
I recently bought a new Alvarez mpa66 shadow burst which I am having a hard time keeping tuned and am thinking maybe the tuner pegs could use an upgrade. I have 4 other acoustic guitars, two of which were less costly than the Alvarez and they stay in tune. All the guitars are kept in the same environment which is hydrated by an evap humidifier in the mid to upper 40’s. My question is what tuners would you recommend for replacement? The guitar is a 12 fret slothead with open tuners which I would prefer. I will have the work done professonally, probably by Elderly’s. All guitars were professionally setup. Any opinions and where to purchase said tuners would ve greatly appreciated.

Before you swap tuners, have the instrument checked. Loose truss rods, unstable neck joints, loose braces, and more can contribute to lack of tuning stability.
Once other maladies have been ruled out, ensure that the existing tuners re adjusted properly, too. If *that* doesn’t help, then tuners might be a worthwhile upgrade. |

EXCELLENT ADVISE! And don’t forget poorly seated strings, defective bridge pins or strings just hanging up in the nut.
