Default My Collection

New here and just wanted to say hi. I am not a "collector" but I do have a mini archtop collection. It took me a few years to put it together and I likely will get a nice display case to show them off one day.

1. 1929 L-5 all original except for the pick guard (which was from the 1930s)
2. Benedetto Fratello from the 80's (it's in his book on archtop making)
3. Stella - a Ken Parker Archtop.

Once upon a time I was an aspiring jazz guitarist but I also just love the craftsmanship in archtop guitars.

She’s a beauty. Stella can be found on YouTube. It used to be the guitar Ken took to guitar shows until he sold it to me. I’ll post a picture of the Gibson when I get home tonight.

I'm confused by the photos of the L5. Are we talking Gibson L5?

I've never seen a Gibson with segmented f holes and have never seen that headstock on a Gibson either

I think this is what happened.

The OP, T3mp, has not posted a picture of his 29 Gibson L5. SSStewart has posted a picture of an archtop, which is not a Gibson, but is referred to as his 29. Look in his signature. I believe it to be a guitar he made and refers to as his 1929.

All of the above is what I deduced from looking at the posts. It could be wrong.

SS STEWART is a brand, at some point built by Harmony and others...

But in the 20's they somehow built or got their name on what I understand to be an early high end guitar > OP had the fancy one built in 1929, and that's the pix

Or at least that's my theory

That makes more sense than my guess.

I'd love to see your archtops but can't open your images. Any ideas?
