Fantastic sound, Edward!! Just beautifully played....and your recorded sound is off the charts in my headphones. I'm sure others may inquire more about your set-up!
Thanks for sharing....and congrats also to your wife's garden finches!!

Very kind, thank you. I like the recording quality too. Just a spaced pair of Peluso P28s through a Scarlett pre in my bedroom loft. Hate to say it but I’m getting a better, brighter sound there than in my acoustically treated home studio. Probably the peaked tongue and groove ceilings and lack of any nearby walls. It’s all black magic!

We’re about to break ground on a studio in our backyard that will have a 14’ x 19’ room with peaked ceiling, and I’ve been thinking about tongue and groove pine for the ceiling. Dreaming of a reliable space to record next year. Fine work with composition and performance, too.

I’m definitely no expert, but I think the tongue and groove pine, at a sloped angle and pretty high up, is giving me a nice balance of diffusion and reverb. That plus close miking with mikes that have good off-axis rejection seems to be a good combination. It will be fun to hear the first recordings from your new studio!

That is a lovely tune Edward. Your playing very lively and groovy.
The birdsound on the beginning was a great starter this morning.

That was gorgeous, and I fully agree, a sparkling sound that fits the tune very well.
BTW, thanks for the tip on the angled ceiling. I have such a room, but I never had considered its potential as such for being a better recording space. I'll have to try it. Also, your title sparked some memories. "Jeunesse oblige" was a popular TV show for young people where I grew up. That goes back to mid 60s or so. Anyway, nicely done on your beautiful tune!

And I thought that title was my own invention, a bit of a riff on noblesse oblige…which only goes to show that there truly is nothing new under the sun. But despite my disappointment, I’m so glad it gave you a pleasant memory. Where did you grow up? France? Canada? Another part of the Francophone world?
