Default Take Me Home, Country Roads, cover

I was asked recently to cover this song by one of my YouTube subscribers. I have always enjoyed the original recorded version of this song -- the harmony, the lead guitar work, John Denver's Travis picking. So I decided to cover the song in a similar way. For the harmony, I asked my grand daughter, Emma, if she would help me, and so Emma joins me on this video. Emma just turned 15 years old. I hope you like this -- thanks for listening! - Glenn

Glenn,

One of my all time favorites! Fantastic job by both you and your grand daughter Emma. I see an end of summer concert tour soon, the Glennwillow Family Singers!

Ah, Glenn that was special!! Loved it!!! I presume you and Emma will be appearing in concert in the near future....I need tickets!

This one strikes a chord pun intended) with me.........as I'm hoping to coax my own grand daughter (12) to join me in something with guitar/ukulele in the fall for some recording, so I"ve been inspired by this one tonight!
Thanks,
Fred

Hi BB!

Thanks so much for your comments! Emma is pretty busy with all the things she does -- classical dancing, the local musical where she has a lead role -- so I doubt that we will be going on tour any time soon. But thank you for the confidence boost!

I had fun with this song, and Emma was a joy to work with. She even pointed out that I had actually sung an incorrect note so that her harmony was not going to work against this wrong note. So, we had to change her harmony to make it work with what I had sung. I was totally unaware. I told her that her pitch is so good that she makes me sound good!

Thanks so much Kerbie!

I'm so glad you like how this came out! Emma really did a good job! She has really good pitch, good tone, great range, and she is a quick learner! And she seems to respect what I know and is very eager to learn. We worked without a break for 2 1/2 hours while we figured out and recorded her harmony parts and then made the video of her. She worked just as hard as I did without blinking! It was fun!

I hope we can collaborate some more, also. She is so busy with her things, however, that it's hard to find time to do something like this. We'll see!

Thanks so much!

- Glenn

That was fun to listen to, excellent work both of you. And its not easy to get those harmonies just right, but you both played off each other very well.

Glenn, this put a big fat smile on my face this morning, and not only because of the great music, playing, singing, arrangement and harmonies. You and your granddaughter performing together is priceless. Wonderful job, both of you!
