Default Fitting the Neck

Before the carving, Mark is fitting the neck to the body and Mark uses the dovetail neck joint. You can see the overall design here.
The head Shaped is now done and the front headplate and binding work are done as well.

The Body, rosette, and bound fretboard...
Everything looks so beautiful! However, Mark applied very unique design to the neck heel. We can find out about that aesthetic shortly~

Cheers

Alan

Default New Design Approach

Hi, Folks

Unfortunately, Mark was not able to take many photos after the neck process so what we have here are the last photos from this build...

After carving the neck, Mark had a creative idea for the back of the neck heel. He sent me this mock-up photo.

Mark came up with inlaying the same aesthetic theme on the neck heel as the headplate and the fretboard.
So the center part would be Katalox and the black would be the rocklite. You can't feel what it is for, eh? The next photo explained what he wanted to achieve~

My client and I both liked the idea but I asked Mark to tweak the size of the black part a bit. This looks pretty awesome and unique.

So after he finished the inlaying, the guitar was sent to the finisher. We got No more build photos from this stage. The Next would be the finished guitar.

Cheers,

Alan

Default Studio Photos and NGD

Hi, Folks

It has been a while... Finally, the guitar arrived in our showroom safely! The client and I were blown away by this incredible guitar!
Well, his workmanship is definitely a top class... "Seamless" is the word that can describe the build quality and Fit and Finish!
This OM is smaller than other Somogyi apprentices OM but it has a loud and clear voice. We've got some of the studio photos from Mark.
So here you go~

Mark Gaiero (The current Somogyi Apprentice) has been an apprentice to Ervin Somogyi for 2 years.
Before joining the Somogyi workshop, he learned many things about guitar building from John Greven and worked at a repair shop in Portland called East Side Guitar repair.
He had built some prototypes before he came up with this Gaiero OM.

Mark is leaving the Somogyi workshop in mid-2019 for his own business. His current base price is USD 5800 and I believe it will be increased soon once his new workshop opened up.
This is very good timing for a custom order with a good price. We still got one bespoke slot available for 2019 delivery.
If you’re into Somogyi Apprentice guitars, feel free to get in touch with us~
