I have a somewhat similar 000X1-AE. The newer models (like the one you are looking at) have a solid wood neck, versus the laminated "stratabond," which should cut down on the overall weight a bit. My guitar is heavy, for an acoustic, and it seems to carry a lot of that weight in the neck.

The HPL is very durable, and the guitar sounds good, the solid spruce top is definitely carrying the tone weight here. The instrument is very stable overall, the electronics are decent--- I think those are upgraded on the X2 models as well?

Playability is excellent. I think they're good values for a guitar that feels a lot like a "real" Martin, sounds good, and is durable. I think the slightly smaller 00 size you're looking at would make for a fine travel companion.
