Aboudib crossover build thread

Getting a little closer.

Very elegant. I’m so used to X-bracing for steel string guitars that I hadn’t given much (if any) thought to fan bracing for classical (or in this case crossover) guitars—I suppose the holes for the D and G strings are on either side of the center brace.

As a "crossover" I'm assuming nylon strings. That would normally be done with a tie block bridge, no holes or pins.

Thanks! I like how the headstock carving is very detailed without being fragile. I'm looking forward to this, especially since the kids should be in school and I'll finally be able to practice without worrying about what my boys are doing.

My guitar was actually completed a short while ago, but I let Michel hold onto it so that he could show it at the Toulouse guitar show, and then have Antoine take photos of it. Since it’s left-handed, Antoine couldn’t record a demo of it, so Michel had another professional guitarist who is left-handed, Gabriel Mallada, record a demo of it. I was supposed to get the guitar on Friday, but with all of the heavy weather* on Friday, the delivery was delayed. Hopefully Monday!

Will you be at the Woodstock show?

I'm not going to Woodstock. So far BIG is my only guitar show. Maybe some day.

Looking forward to hearing yours. I played a koa and redwood guitar at BIG and found that the koa balances the redwood to more of what I hear in my head if that makes sense.

I was a jazz fusion and prog rock nerd when I was in college and as a new grad. I picked up a fretless bass during my last year of pharmacy school and got hooked!

Very interesting strutting system. Undeniably French with clear Bouchet and Friederich influence but a hint of early/mid century Santos/Barbero ideology too. I'd imagine the combination would work well for a crossover.
