Default New originals: "A Hymn for Change" and "For a Better Tomorrow"

Hello AGF!
Well, just a little background on these. Earlier in the spring I composed "A Hymn for Change"....definitely COVID reflections going on there. It's in DGDGBE tuning. Put it in Show and Tell with the Bamburg FSC.
During the summer, I welcomed a very nice Flammang GC (Adirondack/Mahogany) to my little collection that had been owned and cared for by several AGF members. Anxious to see what it could do in front of a mic, I happened upon another tune this fall: "For a Better Tomorrow"....same tuning. Over time it struck me that these are two tunes that really compliment or "bookend" each another, right down to the two titles making a statement and sentence together! So I also re-recorded "Hymn" on the Flammang the other night to bring a consistent combo of the two.
I thought they should be brought into the same thread here on AGF. I'm enjoying this Flammang a lot......crisp, full voice! So, here ya go: Hope you enjoy! Thanks, Fred

Two lovely tunes, beautifully played as always. The Flammang sounds great in your hands. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice Fred!

These two recordings just sing over my Neumann KH120 monitors in my studio. Lovely recordings and lovely performances. It's interesting how the two songs really do seem like bookends to your thoughts on the pandemic. Well done!

That Flammang has a very nice sound and suits your playing style very well!

I was just musing about the pandemic this morning when I heard a commercial jet up above my house this morning. I used to be interrupted in my studio quite often by the sound of high flying jets. I live way out in the country where it's pretty quiet most of the time except for the occasional tractor or loud motorcycle going by on the country road. The most common source of noise has typically been from commercial or military jets or helicopters, but since the pandemic much of that has disappeared. The military still does maneuvers overhead, which is always interesting.

What a strange time we are living in. Your pieces most definitely speak to that!

I hope all is well for you and your family Fred!

- Glenn

Glenn, thank you so much! Really glad these recordings came through nicely on your speakers.....I'm not much of a recordist and it's always great to know that it's a good sound on the other end. Typically I kind of follow the Michael Watts approach with high quality source (guitar), as much practice as possible in getting a piece down and kind of let it fly without to much post processing....I'm glad both pieces spoke to you on the COVID theme!
I know what you mean about flight patterns!! We have a military air base nearby and are also on the flight path for commercial guys coming in from the south before they land about 20 miles further north of us. I have also recognized less activity.
Yes, it's a COVID world.....so many changes.....I hope also that all is going well for you and your family. Will your grand daughter be appearing any time soon?
Best always,
Fred

Hi Fred,

My grand daughter is so busy with other commitments, I probably am not going to be able to convince her to get involved in one of my projects until she has a break. But I certainly would like to get her to sing again on one of my recordings.

I will tell her!

Thanks Fred,
Glenn

Thanks Fred for the nice words. I just listened to these two pieces again, as well as the piece in your signature (Heart Felt). Peaceful, soothing, and beautifully composed. Just what I needed to hear this morning - Thanks!

Very nice playing and complementary pieces. Also really like the sound of your Flammang. I've only played one Flammang, and your model/woods sounds really good.
