Alto TX208 experience anyone?
I want something lightweight to connect my TC-Helicon Perform-VG to, and the Alto TX208 draws my attention with it's low weight and low price. Anyone that has any experience with it?
And how would it compare to a S1 Pro? Thanks in advance! /Per |

I use an Alto Trouper powered speaker and have a Bose S1 and L1C. I use the Alto as a monitor when my trio plays and I also use it for practice. My daughter uses it for cheerleading practice, largely because of the bluetooth function. I don't mind her using it because the unit was so inexpensive.
I don't use it as a PA speaker because I prefer the sound of the Bose but I think it's Altos are great value for the money. Hope this helps.

A little unfair to try comparing a $130 speaker with a $600 one!
I have a pair of TX10's that I use as main speakers. The low end does drop right off on these - mfr specs are 75Hz, so that covers guitars. Are you thinking of this just for practice or for live gigs?

I also use the TX10's and they do a very nice job for acoustic guitar and vocals. I'd tell you to go with them as they only weight maybe 15 lbs. I'm guessing the 8's would have substantially less bass. I've been VERY happy with all the Alto gear I've owned (quite a bit!)

I have a pair of Tx8's that I use for monitors. I did compare them side by side with the TX10's and to me, the Tx8's sounded better. The Tx10's had more midrange and about the same bass response. My buddy bought a TX10 and I brought my TX8 to a gig and he said he thought the Tx8 sounded better too.

The Bose: louder, clearer, battery option. Exactly what you'd expect for 4X the price.
The TX8 vs TX10 - the 10" no doubt does have meatier mids, also the SPL is 3dB higher than the 8". Not sure one 8" speaker would work well for anything but very low volume gigging. I use the (two) 10s in a bar that can get quite loud, speaker pots at 1/2, mixer at 1/4-1/3 main volume, and have no problems with volume/projection.

I used TX8's as monitors for acoustic gigs. They were way underpowered for any other application. I upgraded to a set of Alto TS210's and have been much much much happier.
