Default Excessive Static?

For some reason, my Fender Fat-Strat is putting out a lot of static (and it doesn't matter which pickups I'm using, whether just the single coils or I have the humbucker engaged).

What could be causing this?

Chord was my first thought. I find that sometimes when a cord comes into contact with an electrical cord/power source, I get random static, too.
