Wireless mic
If one is doing solo shows, I suppose it could be advantageous to step out into the audience area and hear what the audience will hear so that you could tweak the settings. Or if you spot a looker and want to serenade her. I saw a new Sennheiser wireless gizmo for guitar today, looks good. What is the state of the art for wireless mic? Headset, I guess. Anyone find a certain model provides a good vocal? Is there any way a wireless unit can provide anything close to as good a sound as a good regular mic?

I use a Shure BLX system with an SM35 headset and it works great. It sounds pretty much like my SM58. Headset mics take some practice though- you need to think about dynamics a bit differently since the mic does not move.
The Shure BLX with the mic similar to the SM58 should work fine. For guitar wireless I use the BOSS W20 and W30 wireless systems. You just have to be careful with certain active systems because of the TRS/TS connection. Good luck! |
