Default -22°F Yikes! All acoustics are cased

Here in Chicagoland we woke up to a nice balmy -22°F. Pretty much everything is closed or should be. Had two rehearsals and performance cancelled for today and tomorrow.

We have pretty good heating and two space heaters which is keeping us at about 70° inside. But in spite of having 3 humidifiers going full blast I can't get the humidity up to 30% so all my acoustics are cased with soundhole humidifiers. Just ordered a 4th room humidifier as we are now installing wood floors throughout and want to minimize expansion/contraction.

P.S....Brother and sister-in-law just returned last night from Melbourne where it was 107°F when they left!

Stay warm y'all (not you Brucebubs )

Serious question here.
Will two or three days of 25-30% RH really damage a guitar?

No. It will take a lot longer than that for the humidity to leave the wood and then longer than that for shrinkage and cracking to occur.

Thanks,
I know it's personal but there seems to be some serious consternation about lack of humidity and acoustic guitars. I sure wish I had invented some sort of humidification device. Just sayin'....

Yes, it is brutal here in the Northwest burbs! I just turned down the whole house humidifier. We were up around 30% and the inside of the windows were getting a little frosty.

Guitars are happy in their cases, and the family is happy under blankets, binge watching movies, and Netflix.

Looking forward to Friday!

Terrible weather here in Naples as well. 67 and cloudy. Thankfully I have my Rainsong in case it starts to sprinkle outside...

In all seriousness, stay warm up there!

showoff!!

It's 3 below here with a -25 wind chill....the wind is just howling!
I have to make sure my stupid dogs don't stay out too long.
Heck - they even cancelled us drivers for meals on wheels.

I have the whole house furnace add on and we're staying around 40 rh but there's a ton of moisture on the windows.

I play then put em right back.

I’m a few hours West of you in Springfield Vind. Def a stay home and stay inside day. I do get a kick out of watching the dogs come in and go ballistic after their VERY SHORT potty breaks.

There’s no Lully gagging for them today. They’re on a mission lol.

My sister lives in Lincoln Park, and we have family in Crystal Lake.

Stay warm and safe everyone.
