Just found it. Mine is A008F and the stand has a wooden brownish color, unlike my other Hercules stands which are black. It too also says Made in China on the tag.

Not finding the batch/serial number on either of my stands. Looked carefully all over both.

Is this a problem mostly associated with opening and closing these stands a lot, or is it just keeping the clamp mechanism engaged a lot? I have a double stand, but I basically open it once per year, use it to hold two guitars for three months, then close it up and leave it closed and sitting in my basement for 9 months. We relocate three months per year and it’s my storage at our winter rental place. But I’m not a gigging musician who’s opening and closing my stand a lot. I’d say mine is about a year and a half old - I’m in the second winter of using it at the moment...

Do they tend to just suddenly fail when they’re holding guitars or do they usually come apart while squeezing the clamp to set up or break down the stand?

Thanks,

-Ray

It was a defective plastic used for a while. It gets to feeling sticky and then just disintegrates.

Doesn't matter if it's being used or not.

I wonder how many stands, and for how long this stuff was used?

And why I've never bumped into it in any other industry?

And if it's toxic?

It took me a minute to find mine. It's a small yellow sticker on the lower leg. On mine it was facing inside.

Update;

I haven't heard ANYTHING since last Thursday. They wanted the model #, and/or a picture and I gave them BOTH.

I won’t wade into the good/bad of plastic or specifically Chinese plastic, but think about this the next time you put your phone up to your face! China exports 25% of the world plastic. It’s everywhere in our lives.

You are correct Haasome, we don’t have much choice went it comes to cellphones, but I do what I can.....like ChiCom plastic cups.

This just in.

"Good morning,

I have placed you an order for a replacement stand and your order number is 3000052386. We are shut down for inventory until the 15th but once we resume daily operations next week we will get your new stand shipped out.

Thank you,"

So far so good. Honoring their warranty is all I can ask for.

Excellent News! Thanks for keeping us in the loop (I'm going to have to go through the same process). Let us know when it comes in.
