Why not just take out the 9v battery until it's needed? Irrespective of leakage, probably a good idea if he travels at all with the guitar as doing so with battery plugged in can make the battery bag come lose and flop around the guitar.

I purchased a 000-28 with the Lyric already installed. The battery is on the upper left side of the back. Does it just peel off? I'd like to put it on the block as well.

The Lyric mic is a fairly nifty little device. However, in my mind, one of it's key features is also a major shortcoming. Keeping a mic inside your guitar and making it effective at eliminating feedback requires them to compress and filter much of the low end of the guitar (below 200 Hz). If you are playing in a band, or at church, that might not matter. If you are playing music where a strong bass response is important, that will have to be done via EQ in the amplification system. Secondarily, and this is a matter of taste, I think the mids are too heavy. Many of us have wondered if Baggs will release a version with multiple (user selectable) EQ curves. For those of use who don't encounter much feedback, we'd have the ability to get more from the mic. If they did that, I would probably own 3 of them. It's important to note that the Anthem was designed to provide the low frequencies via the UST.

I bought my Guild D-55 new 40 years ago so I'm intimately familiar with its sound.

I installed a Baggs Lyric a year ago and hear no difference in its unamplified sound.

I had a Lyric in my Rockbridge for awhile. Didn’t alter the sound of the guitar at all. At one venue it did pick up a local rock radio station loud and clear. How about that! I have since replaced it with a Trance Amulet, a better sounding pickup in every way and no radio station. More expensive too
