Taylor when they fit the necks to the body use a special gauge that clicks into the neck area and references of the top of the bridge and lets them know what shim they should use during manufacture. They then at completion - visually re-assess and alter if required. The shims fitted are typically split by .006 and this does a small preload on the neck, now this .006 split is three shim sizes not two as per that photo, so example a .004 and a .010 would be used. There are times when using this standard split ratio, it will leave a hump in the fingerboard around the 14th -18th frets so occasionally tweaking to a .004 split or even .008 split may be required, this is done vee visual assessment.
