Lightbulb Installing Sound Hole Pickup Control In Gibson Sound Port

Hey everyone I am thinking of getting a new Gibson G-45 generation guitar and I was going to install a pickup with sound hole controls. I know that anything that is put on the top of a guitar will effect it’s responsiveness in some way and from what I understand the sides of an acoustic guitar have less impact on tone than the top and even the back. I was thinking of installing my pickup volume controls by attaching them to the inside of the sides of the guitar where I can access them through the player port instead of the main sound hole.

Has anyone tried this?

Will it make a noticeable difference to the sound compared to a normal installation?

Thanks for any help.
