Default Ultra light hard shell case with back pack straps

A friend of my daughter is looking for a case that’s strong enough to be checked through as luggage but which has straps and is light enough to carry as a backpack. She’s got a Calton case but finds it too heavy for daily use.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

What size guitar?

Hiscox models for small guitars like 00 are light and have hooks for straps, sold sep for ProII models but included with Artist model.

I often say here that I have to check if my Waterloo is in the Hiscox!

Bigger guitar, heavier case.....

Godin TRIC cases and Gator Ultralight Foam cases. Both are pretty strong. However, I wouldn't check an expensive or irreplaceable instrument.

Gator also makes a flight case but that's pretty heavy. If you're looking for a real high quality flight case, the Carlton and similar are the way to go. Hiscox would be another option, but you have to add the backpack straps with an add on product like this.

There are a few backpack strap systems you can buy that go on any hard case. Might be a good option if you find a suitable case.

Visenut makes a fine case, definitely lighter than even Hiscox and it is considered a flight case. It will fit a variety of guitar sizes as well. Mine has straps with it. As I have not used them, always carrying by hand, I think they are backpack straps but they could be just a one shoulder affair.

They are not cheap, nor are they anywhere near as dear as Calton or Hoffee.

I don't know what size or style the guitar is; my daughter sent me a copy of a mass group email the woman sent out asking for guidance. I just sent my daughter an email with a link to this thread in it and asked her to pass it along to the woman so she can follow the discussion for herself.

Another vote for Hiscox cases out of the UK. I ordered one last week directly from the manufacturer and it arrived from the UK to Mass. in 4 days and the price was right. I didn't get the backpack straps they sell that attach to the case as I don't need them, but its a nice option.

Another vote for Visesnut. I have one for my Larrivee and it has been fantastic thus far. Sturdy and light. I also like that it is adjustable to fit many different guitars.

Yep, I'll vote Visesnut too. Super light and the adjustable padding makes for a great fit.
