Default Martin CEO-9

Man, this thing looks beautiful:

I’m not too familiar with curly mango. Supposedly it’s similar to koa? Anyway, just when I thought I was done with GAS for good ...

Way, way cool. Looks like the boss went back to the 00/soft-V neck formula that was so successful on the CEO-7...smart guy. Can’t wait to see them.

I saw it a few days back, I suspect it pales in comparison to a standard CEO-7

What makes you say that? Don’t get me wrong, I love my CEO-7, but this is pretty intriguing.

Definite '30s Gibson vibe - again...

I'm reminded of my old Brooklyn school days, of the jealous kid who had neither personality, talent, intellect, nor creativity (every class seemed to have at least one), yet tried to show you up in whichever area(s) you excelled in the most obnoxious manner possible - the inevitable culmination being a jumbo economy-size helping of schoolyard justice...

As I used to teach my fifth-graders - don't concern yourself with what Johnny or Mary can do, focus on what you do (or want to do) well and do it to the best of your ability...

FYI I have the utmost respect for the Martin name and heritage, been a Martin owner since 1976, but if this is the best, most original design CFM IV can lay personal claim to (exotic woods notwithstanding) - well, let's just say I'd like to be a fly on the wall of the Gibson boardroom, at the next meeting of their new management team,,,

I'm not sure where Chris Martin said it was his "best, most original design," but it reminds me of this 1940 Martin:

And the CEO-9's Pyramid bridge is like the Martin-made Ditsons of the 1920s. I can certainly see some Gibson influence, but every small sunburst guitar isn't a nod to Kalamazoo.

They’ll probably be saying something like “Okay guys, how can we be more like Martin, and make better guitars than we do now without going bankrupt again?”

While I get your point, I don’t have any problem with one guitar company taking inspiration from another. I played an L-00 Studio last week, and my first thought was that it seemed like an inferior copy of a CEO-7.

And it's not like there havent been similar (or exact) custom shop versions of this already. The only thing the CEO-9 really says it what a success the CEO-7 was and how not to go back down that path of the CEO-8/8.2

Of course I like my CEO-7 but there are certainly many better 00/00 sloped guitars already available. I hope the CEO-10 is a nice J-45 style...mmmm mmmm
