Default NGD: 2021 PRS McCarty 594 Hollowbody II Trampas Green

I've been eyeing these PRS hollowbody guitars for quite some time now. Finally had a chance to play a few at the Dallas International Guitar Festival. Nothing whispered into my ear to take it home, but it did confirm I love the guitar. I had seen the Trampas Green with natural sides and neck before, but found them next to impossible to find. Until this one popped up on my radar last week. And when I say radar, I mean browsing every known guitar store in the USA, and some overseas as well! After talking about it non-stop, my wife told me to "Just buy the guitar already!" So I did. Well, she pushed the "complete" button on the website just for fun. Showed up yesterday.

This top is quite something else. It moves and changes intensity as you move the guitar. It's really hard to take a photo and it's much more consistent in intensity and interesting in person. But of course, the photos...

The store did a better job, so here are some of the listing photos.

I keep hearing great things about the PRS hollow body guitars. And that one is stunning! Big congrats on finding it and pulling the trigger. Looks like a real keeper to me.

Stunning! Congrats on the 594.

I just looked up the specs of your guitar at PRS. How are you liking the 58/15 LT pickups? PRS has really stepped up their game with their pickups over the past few years.

BTW, in case you didn't know, "Trampas Green" is named after the guy at PRS who came up with that color... his name is Trampas.

Wow, that is a beautiful guitar! Incredible flaming in that broadleaf maple cap! Holy Cow!

Good for you! Congratulations!

Thanks for the nice comments. It's so pretty I want to leave it on the wall. But I also want to keep it in the case because it's so pretty!

I have the same pickups in my 594 SH and I'm a big fan. You can cover a huge range through volume and tone adjustments. Warm and articulate. It's definitely LPish, but the coil split is pretty darn good, too.

I can't give a good review of this specific guitar just yet. Tone out of the box was lacking. Neck is muffled and bridge is both harsh and bass heavy. Took out my calipers and the pickup heights are way off. I'm going to give it a full setup tonight.

I guess this HB does have the TCI tuning, so there may be a bit of difference. I'll be able to compare more after the setup.

That’s a beauty!
I used to have one each of the first gen Hollowbody I and II models.
Light as a feather!
That is some nice flame maple. I assume the tops and back are still solid maple with mahogany rims and the little sound post under the bridge.
