He lived a long and productive life but so sad he was a casualty of this virus. Condolences to his family.

Very Sad. I worked with his daughter, Ann, back in the late 70's.

Ellis Marsalis also passed away with COVID-19 complications. He played piano, but had similar elder statesman status. A big loss, a wonderful legacy of jazz music.

New York and New Orleans have been hit so hard by this. Every bit of suffering is heartbreaking. And we’re going to very much feel this in the jazz world as it affects a lot of iconic and influential musicians.

I hope you all stay safe and healthy.

Default Bucky Pizzarelli Passes at 94

Had the pleasure of seeing him at the Guitar Summit, hosted by George Benson and held at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC in 1977 - George, Bucky, Gabor Szabo, and Les Paul, who was coaxed by George out of a fifteen-year retirement:

Met the elder Marsalis back when I was in Va. A true gentleman. And Bucky was one of the greatest.

Sad to see that generation go.
