John Walker - Ruby Elite - J185 **SOLD**
**SOLD**
For you consideration is a 2010 John Walker Ruby Elite. I have a new guitar coming, and even with my one in, one out policy,,,, I have very mixed feelings about selling this one for sure, so if it doesn't move, it would not bother me in the least. I purchased this guitar a few years ago from a forum member and hope that it can stay within the forum family. This model is John's interpretation of the Gibson J-185. Based on the iconic J-185 model, John has taken this model to a much higher level, which is quite evident with each and every strum and touch of every note. The voice is quite bold and warm with excellent note separation and response. Obviously the woods that John Walker uses to construct his guitars are of the highest grade. The Adirondack top is tight and straight grain. The maple back and sides speak for themselves. Some of the deepest figured maple I've seen. Very 3 D. My bad photo skills do not do it justice. Just look at the figured maple neck. Quite nice. There are 2 pin size dings on the top and a spot by the sound hole rosette, bridge side, under the B sting where the finish has thinned, probably 1/8". Last thing, the saddle has been sanded down a little, leaving it short on each end of the bridge slot. You will see this in the 4th photo. This instrument is everything that you would expect from a master luthier with Johns incredible background, to build a guitar with this type of wood, quality and construction. The guitars that are crafted in his shop in Montana are absolutely first rate and built with the finest craftsmanship. The guitar has been very well cared for and there are absolutely no disappointments ! * Adirondack Top * Highly Figured Maple Back & Sides * Highly Figured Maple Neck - Full C Shape Profile * Ebony Fretboard & Bridge - 12" Radius * Bone Nut & Saddle * 1-3/4" Nut * 2-1/4" String Spacing at saddle * String Height @ 12th fret, Low E - 4/32" High E - 3/32" * Scale Length 24.75" * Body Width is 15-7/8" Lower Bout & 11-1/2" Upper Bout * Body Depth is 4-3/4" Lower Bout & 3-3/4" Upper Bout * Original Cedar Creek Case * No Electronics Any questions or additional photos, just let me know. Asking $xxxx includes shipping, paypal with family and friends. Thanks Mark Last edited by brijas99; 04-19-2020 at 05:41 AM. |

I really like 185 style guitars. What is the neck carve like? And which tuners are installed?

Hi Dotneck, the neck profile is not an old school baseball bat C, but probably a more modern version C shape. But certainly not a thin profile. It's a very comfortable profile.
The tuners are Waverly. Any other questions just let me know ! |

Hey Dogma, this one is not that actual guitar on John's website. This one was built a few years later.
