Default I’ve got slippage. Look at my nut!

Just like I said, my high e string is slipping off of the fretboard on a new Eastman I just purchased. Looking at the photo, would you recommend a nut replacement?

Yeah, if it's causing problems. I aim for 1/8 on the high e from the edge...

To my eyes, it looks like that nut slot is cut too far to that side by 1/32" or so. I'd have a new nut cut. Problem solved.

Are you referring to the first string or the sixth string?

He said 'high e string' in the OP.

Yeah, it wants bringing in a touch but I think the real problem is too much angle on the fret ends taking away the wiggle room for that e; going by that fret we can see.

That string spacing is definitely a bit wonky looking. All appear the same except between the the b and e.

Since it’s a new guitar I would ask the retailer or Eastman to replace the nut or pay a Luthier for the service. The nut definitely looks defective.

Yeah, we'd get banned from facebook on that one,

My Martin is like that, and I kept slipping off the first few days and then somehow my brain adapted and it hasn't happened again in over 13 years.

The spacing on that nut looks all over the place to me - the 'e' looks too close to the edge and the spacing between the E and A, and the D and G looks 'odd'. I'd go back to where I got the guitar from and ask them to replace the nut with a properly-cut one. If they declined, and I loved the guitar otherwise, I'd pay a good luthier/tech to take care of it.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

I agree with stringjunkie2. While the nut could use some work, the angles on the fret ends looked pretty severe to me.

Same here. The high E spacing would have been fine otherwise. In fact, I slotted my guitar like that purposely. But I also did the low E as well.
