Default Tennessee Banjo Regulation

I had a session playing banjo this week and on Monday I picked up a 5 string banjo that was being set up by Greg at The Classic Ax in Nashville. He said he was obligated by law to give me the document below....

BTW on the session I played this week the producer had me do something I'd never thought of doing with a 5 string - strum it. I was doing 3 finger rolls on the intro of the song, laid out the 1st verse, came back in on the chorus with 3 finger rolls, the strummed the 2nd verse (we stopped so I could take off my finger picks and grab a flat pick), then came back in with 3 finger rolls the rest of the song (Chorus, 3rd verse, Chorus, Chorus, outro). The strumming section sounded great. I never would have thought of that. It fit this tune perfectly. This guy has won a few Grammy's so I guess he knew what he was doing.

Too late for me now but I wish Florida had a similar regulatory statute when I purchased my 5-string. Seems to explain a lot of what has happened to me since.

Loved the insight on the session! Thanks for sharing. What kind of flat pick were you using? Especially interested in knowing what thickness.

Like they say in bluegrass circles everywhere, "What does perfect pitch sound like? It's the sound of a banjo hitting the bottom of a dumpster.....and landing on a dobro!!!!"
