Default NPD - Blue Chip Picks

Hey guys, just got my shipment from Blue Chip picks. I got the TAD-50 and they sound amazing! They're warm but still retain sparkle and they just glide across the strings. Love em so far... This is my first step into boutique picks but I'm afraid they won't be my last. I've been mainly using Dunlop Jazztone and Primetone picks prior to these and will still probably keep them around and these are definitely my new main picks... Hopefully I don't lose them.

Just a question to those who own/seen multiple, are colour variations normal? Mine seem to be a little lighter than my friend's...

Congrats on the new picks. I'm a big Blue Chip fan.

I have seen some slight variation in color, but I don't notice any difference in function. Here are a couple of mine that show slightly darker vs. lighter brown.

They are very nice picks I suppose, but at $35 per pick, I'll stick with my Mojogrips.

twg, a word of warning: you are entering dangerous waters.

Suggest you form a 12-Step support group in your local area: I am powerless over buying expensive guitar picks.

Todd, thanks for the great photos.

I see... Thats good to hear! As long as they're functionally equivalent. I actually just heard from bluechip that they tend to get darker with age.

Congrats with your purchase..took a short while to get used to my TD45 but now i know we will never part
Colour don't bother me much, as long as it works fine that is more important to me. I work in plastic moulding and in general colour is stable unless it is mixed with 2 batches of raw ingredient.

I'm just starting with better, more valuable picks and I'm loving every moment. I have Wegen bluegrass 1.0, a Bluechip TAD-40, a Goat Whiskey 0.9, and I'm waiting on a Charmed Life nf-90. So far there aren't any I regret purchasing.

Where is this 12-Step Program and what other picks am I missing?

Congrats - I know there’s a lot of scepticism regarding expensive picks but most who knock it haven’t tried it. In the grand scheme of things, they aren’t that expensive and they can make a big difference in sound - shape, thickness, and material. I’ll use different picks for different guitars on different songs. I gained a lot more control over my tone when I stopped thinking that “picks are picks.”

Enjoy! For different flavor consider trying the Wegen and Charmed Life picks. I’ve been really enjoying my new 5mm Wegen triangle! Hasn’t knocked the TAD40, CT55, or TD60 out of the rotation, but it’s totally great new flavor!

Honestly, I see people playing with 160k violin bows and 35 for a pick is really not that bad... I know they're not the same and bows and picks are vastly different but they're both used to play instruments and affect the tone. Just like strings, nuts, saddles, bridge pins, etc. Anyways, I think I'll be trying more picks if I get the chance.

Doesn't bother me much either... As long as there not problem in terms of functionality haha. I have no expertise in plastics whatsoever but do you think this means that blue chips are made of a mixed plastic?
