Yep. About 20 years back I had my kitchen redone and bought all new appliances. I already knew what makes and models I wanted before I walked into a store, and that put me in a good position to negotiate. And people are always surprised when I tell them how big the markup is on mattresses.

I sold carpet for a living in my early 20s. I hated that job but it gave me an education about how to negotiate with commissioned salespeople.

I really, really like that Taylor has been using wood binding on some of their guitars...
