Default New Mandolin Day!

I'm playing guitar/mandolin about 50/50 these days, mostly bluegrass. Been wanting to upgrade for a while. Proud owner of a new Gibson F9. Not fancy but its got the pop! Inspiring instrument!

Sweet! I appreciate understated elegance over flashy bling.

What did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? My brother was looking at lots of Gibson F mandos and he was considering the F9, but we couldn't find any for sale.

He ended up with a 1912 F2 to match my Style R harp guitar, but there was no truss rod and the neck was relieved severely. So we took the fretboard off and built a new one with ebony after routing a channel for carbon fiber stiffening rod in the neck. Now it plays like brand new.

Very nice. I dont play mine much, but I can appreciate the beauty of good craftsmanship. That is a very pretty mandolin. I am not surprised by the money that vintage Loar's get.
