Might check out the 12-fret Martin 000-28VS. Elongated body, fatter tone. Within your budget new. I thought it was a good one when I was searching for a 12 fret.

12 fret guitar for ragtime and blues? Hard to beat a National for that. I warn you though, playing a quality resonator will quickly become addicting.
