Default McGreevy OM demo from NAMM show

Hey all,

This guitar really blew my friend and I away. We were lucky to reserve the zero-sound booth that NAMM was offering to take in the perfection of Donal's guitars. They are new to me but I'll definitely be ordering one after this experience! Donal is a great guy to boot!

Each of the three guitars he brought were extremely memorable amongst the dozens we played at NAMM. This particular one had incredibly clear definition to the midrange with a dash of "airiness" to the trebles. Just the right amount of bass to provide the foundation without muddy-ing up the overall sound. To my ears it took everything I loved about the Irish guitar sound and made it more "focused", which was very appealing for modern fingerstyle and complex flatpicking tunes.

The double-sides really let the top respond to minimal attack, in fact when you held the guitar in the convention you could feel the top and back vibrate from just the crowd noise going on around us, but not the sides! Am now a firm believer in double-laminated sides, in that they allow the top to be just a little thinner and more responsive.

Recorded with a Zoom Q8, no effects or EQ.

Whoa!! Nice, Dustin!! I know what you mean on the double sides. My Doerr Legacy has Wenge laminated to the Cocobolo and it's great.
Glad you had a chance to do this demo.....and.....share it with us!!
Best,
Fred

Had no idea Tom was doing that, makes sense as he said somewhere he did the somogyi class and they’re big on that. Would LOVE to hear your Doerr in person
