Failed Hercules Stand
Noticed the height adjustment handle on one of my Hercules stands was sticky. Moved my S-6 and the stand collapsed. That plastic lock died and exploded.
Look how sticky this thing is. Since parts are not available I fixed the stand with a plastic autobody pin. My other stand is perfect. No idea why this one failed. jerry |

Not uncommon unfortunately.

A known issue. I had one with the "Sticky" handle too. It's an issue with the particular plastic that they used.
Hercules will replace your stand at no charge. Contact them via their website. |

Sorry to hear. I have lots of Hercules stands and hangers and I noticed one of the stands now has a sticky handle. I think I'll contact Hercules. I no longer have a guitar on that stand.

Yup, same thing happened to one of mine. Hercules needs to deal with this.

Does this still occur on current production models, or is this pretty much on older ones. And if so, how old are all yours guys stands that have this problem?

They are standing behind their product, but you have to contact them. I sent image (tissue stuck to handle plastic!) and receipt and got a new stand in less than 1 week. [email protected] Kody Mayberry Customer Service Specialist 12020 Volunteer Blvd. Mount Juliet, TN 37122 If your handle is sticky, you should stop using the stand, as there was at least one person on the forum whose unit failed and their guitar dropped to the floor. Ouch! |

One of mine did this. The local retailer took it back and replaced it out of stock with a new (and I assume improved) version.
Out of dozens of Hercules stands I use for stage, studio, travel, and home, only the one stand has failed. Great product otherwise. |

This thread reminded me I have one of those sticky stands. I had wrapped it with duct tape years ago. I just unwrapped it and it literally fell apart in my hand.
I just sent the picture with an email and will keep you guys informed if they stand behind the product. |

I'm not sure when I got mine but all the Hercules stands I bought (except for the 2 new ones I bought a couple weeks ago) are between 1 and 6 years old.

I'm absolutely POSITIVE mine is over 10 years old because I have pictures of it in a club that is gone.

First Hercules stand I got was for holding three guitars, within a month or so one of the clasping mechanisms failed. I tried to contact them many times - they ignored me. No more Hercules gear for me.
He might have "slain" a lion and a hydra but he ain't gonna get his mythical paws on my guitars!

This one falls in the 6 - 8 y/o category. Don't take a chance dropping a guitar.
