Correct. Sorry for any confusion.

Like them on some guitars, not so much on others.

For anyone interested, Strings and Beyond has 15% off Elixirs right now! https://www.stringsandbeyond.com/elixir.html

I am in the hate Elixir Strings camp. I got Elixir Strings on my Taylor 214CE and used them for a long. They made the guitar hard to play and the tone was not my favorite. Then I decided to try different gauges and brands. After buying lots of sets of strings I ended up with Martin Lifespans 12s. I use those on both my Martin OMC-15ME and Taylor 214CE. They sound great and the guitars are easy to play even with 12s.

Actually the confusion was not caused by you, but by the simple fact that this forum does not chain previous quotes within a message when a given message is quoted. You have to work to get the full story into one message.

So you are cool. No need to apologize.

Since this thread has been rejuvenated several times I'm not sure I've contributed previously. My thoughts are:

I do not like them on a Furch,
I do not like them when in church,
I do not like them on my dreads,
I much prefer others instead,
I do not like those Elixir strings,
I do not like them much at all.

I used to like the Polywebs but in the end I could never justify the additional cost so I moved on. I couldn't say they were "head and shoulders" above other strings as I dislike the dander around the soundhole.

I see what you did there.. LOL Yeah, that's why I switched to their Nanoweb strings, no shedding.

To me, they sound great on 12-string and completely awful on a mandolin.

I tried them before and was never a fan. They sounded a little shrill to me. I am still in the experimental stage on my 000-18 and wanted to try extra lights so I put Elixirs on it. At first I liked them but the more I play them, the more I realize why I didn't like them. I won't be re-stringing it with them.

I've said it before. There are two strings I totally hate: the Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze and anything Elixir. The slimy feel, the stiffness, the un-organic tone, etc. Yuck!!!

On the other hand, I put a Cleartone set yesterday with my 414ce. So far, they feel and sound awesome. Now I'll see how much pounding they can take. If they can, they'll be a permanent part of my Taylor guitars.
