Default Gibson Pricing

Hi all....Quick question on Gibson pricing. I know that you can typically get 40% off list price on Martin guitars from most dealers. I was wondering if the same holds true on Gibson acoustics. If not, what can I expect as a solid discount off list price?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Thanks,
Dave

Default Gibson Pricing

I cannot answer your question definitively, but know that a year or so ago Gibson changed their list price policy to make the listed prices much closer to what you can expect to pay. For example, a J-45 Standard is listed at about $2400. I would be shocked if you could get 30 or 40% off of that. Their pricing doesn't work that way anymore.

I would expect 10-15% off the pricing now. I am pretty sure I paid about $2100 for my 2016 J45 Standard, but I'd have to dig up the paperwork.

The Gibson model I use is listed at the website at $2,935, however can be purchased for less than $2200 at MF, GC, Sweetwater etc. and goes used for around $1750. I don't know the logic, but I never believe the prices listed at manufacturers websites Real prices are usually much lower.

billyg (in post 2) may be right about the price changes at Gibson dot com - I hope he is, anyway!

The only way to know is to find a guitar you want and make an offer. The lowest price available is the one you are standing in front of with cash.
