You got it Colins! We are waiting for Harvey to finish up the HS inlay. He also put together the rosette and end graph to tie it all in. Otherwise the guitar is built and waiting for finish. In this case, Michael built 3 guitars in this batch, and offers us a private photo album that is updated weekly. Needless to say, it has been a pleasure sharing the bench with Chippygreen's beautiful build as well as a beautiful guitar Michael built for a dealer.

I was able to play some of John's Guitars at Artisan and was very impressed. He had a 000 Adi/Mahogany guitar and I asked him to make one just like it tonally. That was right after I played your Brondels which certainly sounded good to me.

TAMARACK!! Fantastic, Bob. First guitar I have heard of using Larch (not spruce). Good for you! Very curious to learn how it performs, and curious how Mark sourced it.

Jamie
TAMARACK (yes, it is named after American Larch tree) is the name of the guitar model. We will be selecting a spruce top for my TAMARACK based on the size of the model, Mark looks for a specific ratio between the long-grain and cross-grain stiffness when selecting suitable tops. I just put TBD because that decision.

Mark made me a “Pinyon” model (named after the Pinyon Pine) 5-years ago using German Spruce and Madagascar Rosewood...

I will start a build thread when Mark starts the guitar...

Bob, you have incredible taste in guitars. That first Blanchard is gorgeous, with a lovely shape and some of the nicest MadRose I have ever seen. I am a tad disappointed you aren’t having a guitar made from Larch...since you have looked into tone wood species more than most folks here, I imagine you have looked into it. Yes? Does it make a decent tone wood? Perhaps the trees don’t get big enough to use.

Hopefully Joel Michaud squeezes me in for 2020. If not, I'm going shopping!

2020 will be a banner year for me with 2 coming.

I have an FT-0 coming from Bruce Sexauer (if he is able) patterned after the one he built for Bob Berger. This guitar will be German Spruce over Cuban Mahogany. And yes, there will be abalone!

I also have an SSD coming from Tim and Mary McKnight. That would be a Slope Shoulder Dreadnaught. In conversations I have been referring to it as a Super Special Dreadnaught. Tim's special '59 Sitka Spruce over Figured Pommele. And yes, there will be abalone!

I hope post build threads on both.

I look forward to auditioning it Dennis. It sounds like a great combo and Bruce will make it sing for you.... After nearly two years of play, my FT-0 sounds better than when you auditioned it at Woodstock .

Yes, Bruce unleashed the “magic” in the woods on that one and I am sure that he will on yours as well...

I have a Pre-War Guitar Co. OM with adi/brazilian coming in the May(ish) timeframe. Not sure this technically qualifies as a custom guitar since it is a model they offer with no customization. Will be my first time playing a Pre-War. Looking forward to it.
