Default D'Addario XTAPB1253, XT . thoughts?

I've been giving these XT strings a go as it seems they have replaced the EXP range that I was always happy with. I'm usually content to get a couple of months or ten weeks out of coated strings ,and when I change them its habit, rather than they need it. These have been on for six weeks and are already breaking down and are turning black in places. I'm not a sweaty guy and don't normally experience this. I'm not going to judge them on one set (Besides I bought a triple pack ), so I will give them another chance, otherwise its back to the new Martin coated strings which I have on my other guitars and which are fine .Anyone any experience with the XTs ?

I personally like the tone and feel of XT strings, but I have noticed I don't get the life out of them like I do with EXP strings. And they're pricey. When EXP are gone, I'll likely just use plain old EJ strings for cost savings.

I am using XT 12-53. They certainly last less than the Elexir. But as I love the sound of the old strings and I keep them for about 1 year before changing it doesn't bother me too much. If you want a new string sound that lasts longer the Elexir is the way to go.

I'm a fan, but not much more than of regular D'addarios. There was a period last year when they came out I thought I needed coated strings, but I recently used the regular PB lights and they sound fine after a long time. A string is a string to me.

I was disappointed with them.
Not as long lasting as the EXP16's, and not as nice in sound production.
I've been buying up extra packs of EXP's when I find them, or see them advertised.

I agree, the XTs are not as good as EXPs and don’t last as long. I too have been buying extra sets of EXP16’s, but if EXPs are no longer available I will go back to using EJ-16s and just change strings more often.

I like the feel and sound a lot of these strings.
And yes, they are quite expensive.
Use these and still use EJ17 now and then.

Tried a set of the XT’s and I didn’t care for them. They were dead after a day.

I tried XT a couple of times and realized I like the EXP better. I bought a bunch of EXP on sale a few months ago and also stocked up on Martin Lifespan 2.0 which I also like very much.

Thankyou all for your feedback, it seems I'm not the only one who is unimpressed with XT. Martin Lifespan I do like, so I may just stick with them.
