Default No Time for the Cowgirl - a brand new original

No Time for the Cowgirl
(David Pennybaker - Date of creation: 7/3/22)

You speed out of that gate / Horse and reins under control
Makin’ your figure eight / With just one barrel to go
Movin’ a bit too fast / Gettin’ a bit too near
Your hopes are dashed when you feel that crash / You know what you will hear

No time for the cowgirl / Better luck next time
Least you gave it a whirl, but don’t worry girl / You will turn out just fine
Rodeo’s your whole world / It’s more than just ribbons and curls
You know that sometimes it ends with / No time for the cowgirl

You speed into romance / With nothin’ under control
Does he dance the same dance? / Does he understand your soul?
Movin’ a bit too fast / Gettin’ a bit too near
Your hopes are dashed when you feel that crash / You know what you will hear

No time for the cowgirl / Better luck next time
Least you gave it a whirl, but don’t worry girl / You will turn out just fine
You thought he was your whole world / He just saw ribbons and curls
You know that sometimes it ends with / No time for the cowgirl

I’ve moved too slow / Now I pull you near
Before you go / I want you to hear

I’ll make time for the cowgirl / There won’t be no next time
Let’s give it a whirl, but don’t worry girl / We will turn out just fine
You’re my whole world / Bought you diamonds and pearls
I know that this won’t end with / No time for the cowgirl

I wrote this song using NBHA rules that state knocking over a barrel in barrel-racing results in a "no time'. But I have been informed that this song can't be sung at PRCA events because the rules are different.

Hi David,
Very educational.
Lovely singing, and the lyrics are very nice.
Thanks for sharing this recording.
