Default Emerald HyVibe

I have a fascination with on-board effects in guitars. I've owned a Yamaha Transacoustic, but sold it because of the narrow nut. Then I had a HyVibe system installed in an Eastman OM, but sold it because it wasn't comfortable to play. Thought about the Tonewood amp but didn't like the idea of the brick on the back of the guitar.

Emerald just posted a video about the HyVibe:

which is piquing my interest yet again.

I know that the HyVibe, and other related systems, aren't terribly popular in the main forum because people want their acoustics to be pure. But I figure those of us in the CF world are already a little off kilter so maybe there is more interest here. There were quite a few HyVibe enabled guitars in the latest shipping video.

So I'm curious, has anyone tried the HyVibe with their Emerald? Impressions?

I’ve got the same question, Kevin. I’m getting ready to order an X20 and am considering either installing an LR Baggs Stage Pro Anthem myself or having Emerald install the HyVibe. While I think I’d like using the HyVibe’s effects, I’m unsure how the sound of the HyVibe pickup compares when running it straight into an acoustic amp or PA. Any thoughts?

Sorry, no. I'd never tried plugging in my HyVibe when I had it. I was mostly interested in having some effects w/o being plugged in. Based on their shipping videos Emerald is selling a lot of HyVibes. Maybe an email to them would get you some insight or a sound sample?

Have you seen this video of a HyVibe plugged in?

Thanks, Kevin. I can ask Emerald but I also wanted some feedback from players who have used it. Thanks for the video link. I hadn’t seen that one.

Once again when I hear a Hyvibe system my mind's eye sees an archtop.

Does anybody else have experience with the HyVibe system on an Emerald?

I only jam with friends at home and am considering an X7 with HyVibe.

Reviving this thread in hopes that others might offer first-hand experience.

Yeah, I'd think someone on the forum would have one. It seems that at least half of the guitars in the recent shipping videos have a HyVibe installed.

Yes it would seem likely that a few people on this forum would have ordered one with the HyVibe. It seems like it would be a fun practice tool. It's sounds good in some of the demos.

I don’t get this. Care to elaborate?

Here's a duo jam with both using the HyVibe which has piqued my curiousity.

I think jwellsy means that Emerald should offer the HyVibe as an option for their Kestrel Archtop.

After reviewing his previous post, I think you’re correct. I’m just interested to know why the Kestrel as opposed to any other Emerald.

It may be a moot point anyway - I don’t think the Kestrel (or any other slimline Emerald) has a deep enough body to accommodate the unit.

Very interested in feedback on those who have an X7 with the Hyvibe system!

Thanks in anticipation.

I had one of the Yamaha Transacoustics for a bit, it didn't take me long to tire of the effects and I prefered the plain acoustic sound, the Hyvibe does more and sounds higher quality, but I wonder if I would get tired of it too? I still find it interesting. Need to think about this for a bit.

Yes, me too. The HyVibe pickup option in Emeralds gets very little mention here.

I took a chance and ordered an X7 with HyVibe based on demos that I thought sounded good. Not sure when it will arrive but will relay my thoughts.
