Reverb always supports the Buyer.
The seller should have disclosed that the guitar stunk.

Reverb will take care of you on this one for sure. That's a bad description by the seller. Sorry to hear you had such a lousy purchasing experience!

I too have had my share of poor online experiences. It's super frustrating when you're eagerly awaiting a guitar only for something like this to happen. I hope all goes well with getting your money back!

You really shouldn't be expecting much when you buy a guitar in "good" condition. "Good" basically means "not very good." The only condition worse is "fair." Well, after that there's "for parts or not working." You should expect you'll have to do a little work on a guitar described as "good." I like pdx's response: "Take the tuners off and flatten the plate."

Wow. Whoever sold that guitar had no idea how to install strings. Or maybe just didn't care enough to do it right?

The seller deserves to have that guitar returned.

I was wondering about the strings as well. Those strings aren't installed, someone was in the process of installing them. So I ask myself if it came that way or if the OP was installing new strings when that tuner pulled like that. Might have a bearing on the refund.

Thanks,

Except for one all the strings were installed counterclockwise

Overall this guitar is a mess.

Update on my situation:

I contacted reverb customer service. They emailed me that they had "got my back" regarding my issues. That was more than 2 weeks ago.

Reverb has not responded to my recent inquiries regarding the status of the claim.Seems to me that they do not wish to deal with it or help me out.

So Reverb ,like so many other corporate entities, promises "protection" while not delivering it.

I have advanced my claim onto PayPal resolution....

No,

I did nothing to the guitar when i received it.It was so disgusting to me that I had no desire to tinker with it.I received the guitar with the strings installed as shown on the photos.

As for hammering out the tuner plate-that would not work as there is a chunk of wood missing. The headstock would need to be reconstructed in order to have the tuners seated properly.

My main gripe is the strong mildew odor from the guitar.Prior to purchasing the seller assured me there was no odor.

My wife won't tolerate the guitar on the house....

As far as the tuner plates-there is a chunk of wood missing so that in order for the tuner plate to be flush with the headstock, the headstock would need to be repaired as well.

OK, that's pretty bad. That should have been disclosed. A seller can't just say a guitar is in "good" condition and not disclose some serious defects.

I still say reverb is a stand-up outfit. I'm sure they've "reached out" to the seller, and likely they allow a particular amount of time for him to respond before taking the next step. Talk to one of reverb's guys using their "chat" capability (available during business hours only) and ask what's going on. They'll look up your case and fill you in. You did get in your complaint/refund request within 7 days of receiving the guitar, right?

Yes,I notified Reverb immediately after the seller refused to even negotiate somewhat.

Thanks for your support!
