Default Henderson School of Appalachian Arts

Headed back to Marion, VA today to finish up my HD-28 style guitar at The Henderson School of Appalachian Arts. Been three months in the making but we're finally able to reconvene (COVID-19) to finish up the process.
If you've ever thought of building your own guitar I can highly recommend this program. I'm no woodworker but with Wayne and three other gifted luthiers who work along side him I was able to build what I believe will be a really great guitar. If you have any interest I'm happy to provide contact information regarding the program. Happens twice a year. (Spring & Fall)

Last newsletter from the school they mentioned they had some openings in the next workshop due to people backing out.
Usually it is a ~2 year waitlist. Could be an opportunity to get in earlier.

Yeah...when we got word of the reconvene a couple of weeks ago they said there were 3 openings (7 total but one is a scholarship type arrangement so actually 6 paid spots for each class) for March 2021. Not sure if they're still available but you could be able to bypass a two year wait.

Yes...everyday. He actually helped me with my top bracing. The man can do more with his pocket knife than I can with a razor sharp chisel! And one of the most unassuming, down to earth, nice guys you'd ever want to meet. I could listen to him tell stories all day!

I had Wayne for a guitar workshop in Mars Hill a couple of years ago. Never enjoyed a class more. Wonderful guy. Have fun and stay well.

Hey Ron...yeah Josh Reese (Moss Ridge Guitars) is from there. He is one of the luthiers at the Henderson. He spent a lot of time getting my frets dressed last night. Very patient and just a great guy. I need to post some picks of my guitar. Just got home and am beat. maybe tomorrow...
