thanks for the advice
I went for a Jumbo 12 fret cutaway Ziricote and Sinker redwood I listened as all the woods were tap-tested, and they look great too I've never done a custom build before, this is fun! |

Beautiful! I’m flying over to Ireland soon to pick up my custom build - need to do a NGD post.
The gents over there are top notch. I plan on doing another build with them at the beginning of next year.

what is your spec for this guitar?

Mine is based on the custom Tambuti model I owned a few years ago. I’ll post some pics of the build soon and plan to do a vid when I pick it up next month.
Here’s John at Shoreline showcasing the one I had. I chose rosewood for the back/sides and ebony for the cutaway, among a few other little custom changes. I plan to have them build me another one, identical in specs, but their smaller body in early 2020 (if I can wait).

The Macassar is a hard, heavy ebony that I really like. A "reflective" side/back tonewood. Seems like less mud in the low mids to me but I have only owned one.
I haven't owned sinker redwood. I have owned two amazing mastergrade redwood Goodalls. I would stick with that myself. |

They had some, used it up, then got some more in just after I expressed an interest

Just saw this thread. IMO Macassar ebony might not give you the type of bass response you mentioned. Tends towards tight and clear but not big.
