Default Why no rechargeable acoustic guitar pickup systems?

If you have a preamp mounted near the sound hole all it would take is a USB cable to charge.

How come nobody is doing it?

I find it really ironic when I see units that already have a usb mini port.

My Blackbird Lucky 13 has a rechargeable undersaddle pickup. It's absolutely brilliant, a couple of minutes charge gives many hours of use. I've no idea how it works!

How about converting the energy from strumming the guitar into the energy to recharge the pickup. Heck! You could power a whole light show!

That is incredible. I found this in a review of the Luck 13.

The Lucky 13’s optional electronics – a Fishman Matrix under-saddle pickup with soundhole-mounted Volume and Tone controls – are powered by a rechargeable MISI system that’s mindful of the local landfill and lightweight compared to a 9-volt battery system. Plug the charger cable into a wall socket and you’ll get at least 16 hours of performance. That’s several long gigs, and the recharge time is only about 60 seconds.

MISI endpin preamp. Has a wall wart charger, and in a pinch can be charged with a 9v battery.

Yup. Some of the top-of-the-line Waldens used to have them (the Mi-Si ALIGN XT). I used to have one. It sounded great, but the buttons were ugly. They were supposed to be a "drop-in" solution for people who were unsatisfied with the Taylor Expression System.

No idea what you are talking about, Mi-Si has made them for years.

The charger just plugs into the pickup socket.

Wife has one on her Farilon Uke. I was suspicious at first, but it works fine.

The MiSi system works like a capacitor.

I’ve had my eye on the Mi-Si Magpie.

I have a MiSi rechargeable endpin preamp connected to a PUTW #54 pick up - works great and adds next to nothing in terms of weight. Great sound and very convenient.

Best,
Jayne

Ive wondered that too, but with a slightly different twist...a wireless fob that will also power the pre-amp.

They need to invent a wireless charger built into the back of the guitar case like those cell phone charging pads...

The Mi-Si preamp charges in about a minute. No real point in wireless.

Hi Micky C…

Remember any battery powered device where you don't have the ability to change the battery has a shelf-life. The smaller the device the shorter the life.

I'm 72 yrs old and have exhausted many computer & phone batteries.

If the current draw is really that small, why not a solar powered soundhole plug with thumbwheels for control?
