Default Other string instruments found in the house

Hello all
Well I know this a guitar forum but we all have different things to acompany us especially while recording. I had forgotten all about my Oscar Schmidt model #73 vintage 1960's Auto harp that I bought for short money meaning to learn to play it about 6-7 yrs ago. I had ideas about some Celtic Autoharp/Acoustic guitar recordings. Well I draged it out of my closet today. It came with a case all original papers and is for a 50 year old instrument in very fine condition. I tuned it up and although the strings are discolored I cleaned them and it sounds great. I bought a celtic autoharp book at the time I bought it. Mabey for Christmas I will record a simple Christmas tune cd for the family. Any other harp players here? I saw on the web the old schmidts are worth a few bucks too?
Dwight

Yeah. I picked up a used one a few years ago. Nice instruments - they go well with a guitar.

Have a Schmidt Berkshire 15-bar, as well as a 12-bar Chromaharp that I had converted to an A/D diatonic. Not to mention 3 electric bass guitars (one acoustic-electric), a couple each of ukes, mandolins and banjos, and too darn many dulcimers for my own good.

I cried because I had no shoes.....but then I realized I won’t get blisters.

No, but I'd love a nice ukelele and maybe an electric guitar one day.

Two mandolins on top of my 3 acoustics, coming around to my one year of playing mando mark, and very much a beginner

I have a charango, a 10-string instrument (5 courses) that originated in colonial Peru (later divided into Peru and Bolivia) in the 18th century. Originally, they had bodies made out of armadillo shells but most made for professional use now have wooden, bowl-shaped bodies. Typically, they are about 26 inches long. You can hear the instrument on Simon and Garfunkel's, El Condor Pasa. Mine is 41 years old.

I also have a 6-string, all-koa ukelele (four courses) bought in Hawaii but made in the U.K.

As well as my guitars, I have three mandolins, three ukuleles and a tenor mandola! Not all of these will be staying long term, but a number of them are definitely keepers

Bouzoukis keep pestering me, asking me to buy them, and I have a feeling one of them will follow me home one day, I'm just trying to put it off because I already don't have sufficient time to practice the instruments I have as much as I'd like to.

Fliss,
That's my girl!!! You're up to 3 ukuleles now. Ukuleles, I would offer, make a nice fix for GAS as they are cheaper than guitars and huge fun to play.

Jimmy
And they take up less space in the house, even compared to parlour guitars...

However, one of them (my cheap starter uke) will definitely be going when I get round to selling it; the two Kamakas are still settling in

In addition to my CA GX, I have an 8 string ukelele from Vanuatu, a hotrod triconce squareneck, a stella tenor guitar, a 3 string cigar box guitar I made, an old Suzuki converted to a lapsteel - oh, and a nylon string that never gets played. And a ESP telecaster (does that count?). At one stage I had a kora but it basically disintegrated.

Next is a single cone reso, as soon as I can convince my significant other how essential it is. Then maybe a banjo....

So, can we do banjo player jokes until you get one......

Maybe just one for now?

What's the definition of "perfect pitch"?

Perfect pitch is when you toss a banjo into a dumpster and it lands on an accordian.

Sorry, I HAD to do it

Jimmy
