Default Finally one for me: Koa goodness!

What's the old cliche? "The shoe makers daughter goes barefooted"? Well, I finally finished a guitar for myself, a t90, my best selling model.

Koa/mahogany body, maple/Brazilian rosewood neck & fingerboard, custom made gold anodized pickguard and control plate, custom built Budz pickups. Inch and three quarters bone nut w/ wide string spacing. Reverse controls, "Muddy Waters" knobs, 280k volume pot and a NOS Russian capacitor.

Just got the strings on, letting it sit w/ tension for a day then I'll level and crown the frets. But, to the pictures,...

3/16th of an inch top, mahogany back and it's chambered, right at 7.4lbs all in.

What exactly is a gold anodized pickguard and control plate? I'm talking about the anodized part. I remember learning that in chemistry class but that was 27 years ago

I'm sure the guitar sounds sweeeeet!

It's a protective oxide film on the surface by caused electrolysis.

Quote:
Anodizing is accomplished by immersing the aluminum into an acid electrolyte bath and passing an electric current through the medium. A cathode is mounted to the inside of the anodizing tank; the aluminum acts as an anode, so that oxygen ions are released from the electrolyte to combine with the aluminum atoms at the surface of the part being anodized. Anodizing is, therefore, a matter of highly controlled oxidation—the enhancement of a naturally occurring phenomenon.
Aluminum works great as a RF shield so it has value as a pickguard. Some early Fenders had anodized PGs, so there is a tradition.

As a Tele lover myself, I gotta say, that is one very nice fiddle.

Well done.
