Default If you could magically invent something guitar related....

I would love to have adjustable string spacing. It would be awesome to widen it for fingerstyle and narrow it back down for strumming.

Or, one could just learn to cope with the differences, and stop blaming fractions of an inch on one's inability to play a certain style.

A miniature high quality BlueTooth pickup system! (If I have my iPhone on me, my car system is mated to it - surely we can get a nice pickup mated to your amp/PA.)

Also, a moveable 'nut' capo to play bottleneck up a few frets without flattening the strings to buzz height.....you know, nut height all the way up to 7th!!!

And saving the best for last - a magic acoustic that sounds better than you are!

This piece that can actually latch onto a strap securely. Not sure why they can’t make that piece more meaty.

A really good travel guitar. One that actually fit in a carry on but played like my regular guitar.

Or maybe I could wish for a way to remove Snark. What is a small difference to you can be huge for someone else. Kind of rude to imply that wishing for something means you are blaming something and that you not able to play a certain style. Way to (try to) ruin what was supposed to be a fun thread.

Sorry you took it that way. The continued emphasis on a certain specification for a certain style of playing drives me nuts.

If I could magically invent something, it would be a gizmo to get rid of that preconception, whether it be nut width, bridge spacing, scale length, action height, top material, back material, neck joint, bridge pin density and all the other minutiae, and just let us all enjoy playing the finest solo instrument yet created.

It could be me, but I don’t remember as much of that kind of behavior years back. Idk. It seems to be more prevalent as of late. Sad.

As to your question...easily interchangeable pickguards with no worry of finish removal, etc.

I have removed quite a few guards successfully but it takes a little bit of time. And, I was ALWAYS nervous. It’d be sweet to be able to quick swap different guards.

I hear what you're saying but have you found nut issues when strumming? While I don't have an issue, maybe from years of finger-picking electric guitars, but for me, a nut wide enough for picking would normally be wide enough for strumming.

There are reasons that people have certain physical limitations- arthritis, previous hand injuries. No blame, just preferences that make playing the guitar more enjoyable with less discomfort.

Best,
Jayne

Uh.......... you can invent something guitar related. So, if you have an answer to the question, you can do it.
