I haven't read all the other posts, so forgive me is someone said this already.
If you get a 414ce first, you'll still want the D-18. If you get the D-18 first, chances are the D-18 will be the only guitar you'll ever want. To summarize, save yourself some $$ and get the D-18 first. (P.S. I really like Taylors--I have a 314ce I really like a lot. But I still like my D-18 way better). EDIT-- I just realized this is a zombie thread and the OP bought the D-18 years ago; as for anyone else who stumbles upon this thread in the future, my comment above still stands.
